Sorry folks… I really am.. I recently found out how to use permalinks on my website (yadda yadda .htaccess file mumbo jumbo, couldn’t find it, got help (thank you, Fredrik over at www.heltsikker.no!! now it’s there), and as a result, I could migrate my whole blog to my website, which is nice, ‘cuz now you can get it all in one place :)
So the new place to go to now: BLOGLINK
I hope I’m not hassling you guys too much and ya’ll won’t come visit anymore… hehe… If I could persuade you to update your links, if you have me on your blogroll, that’d be much appreciated as well…
Again; Sorry for the constant moving of this thing… All of the posts and images can be found there as well, so nothing is lost in the conversion…
Oh… and you can always use www.dcept.com as a target… that’s the homepage, and there’s a link on there to the blog.. whichever you guys prefer :)
Thanks for the patience!
I’ll leave this blog on here a little while longer before I take it down, though… See ya over at dcept.com :P

Couple of sketches I did at work today… I started the day out listening to Delinquent Habits, so I had to sketch a Mexican… haha…
The other one is a result of a brush I made today… it’s basically a really long, vertical line that I put spacing and set the angle to pen tilt which accounts for the lines.. the rest was just smearing something in there to get a structure on some of it… and a face to connect it to something… I don’t know… If you guys see anything in it I don’t; awesome!
Oh… and I also gave it an artsy fartsy title; “Mindscapes” hahaha.. I never name my shit…hahaha
Just keepin’ this thing alive… I’ll post some more stuff soon!

‘Sup ya’ll!
Ubisoft has said that there will be a sequel to Assassin’s Creed coming out! I though the first game was really enjoyable, even though it became a bit… one track after a while playing… That being said though, it moved beautifully, I liked the controls, and there was a bunch of very impressive concept art done, and the game looked very very good, in my humble opinion.. hehe..Looking forward to what the guys over at ubisoft come up withn for the sequel!
Did a warmup-y quick’n'dirty sketch after reading about it.. she’s not Altair, but I wanted to imagine up a quick assassin.. hehe..

New blog (or old, migrated blog) There’s been some weirdness happening with the text sizes of the old posts in the conversion process… Until I find something that automates the process for me, it’s staying that way… sorry… I’m lazy with that kind of stuff… but I found out that if you click the old posts (like the title of the post), you get a bit bigger text and such.. hehe… So if any of the old posts are interesting; click ‘em :D
Did another chimp… haha… they keep poppin’ up :P I was listening to some good ol’ Dr.Dre from back in ’92-’93 from The Chronic… and a monkey came out, and yeah… I haven’t the faintest clue about typography, but that’s the way it goes.. haha
I’ll collect the chimps when I’ve done a couple more and put ‘em all in one post.. hehe… You can see more of these guys if you scroll down… they’re all on the first page here!

Happy New Year ya’ll!
I’ve been planning (read: procrastinating) to do something about my website for the longest time. I’m totally inept when it comes to coding stuff… when I see html, css or any other code for that matter, my brain goes into meltdown mode and the only part left is the modula oblongata and it kicks in and I get really really frustrated (read: imagine a small a-bomb going off inside my skull, smoke pouring out my ears and me snapping at anyone coming within reach while I’m working on it). So now I’ve tried to set myself up so I don’t have to build something new every damn time I’m gonna update.
So yeah.. check it out here: www.dcept.com and let me know what you think. It ain’t much in the ways of webdesign, but then the pictures should be what’s important, right? I’ll be adding more content in the days to come.
There’s also an option to rss-feed the site so you can get updates when I put new stuff on there!
Here’s a little spaceship kinda thing I sketched the other day to put a little visual in here as well :)
Movie recommendation: Vantage Point with Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox and Forest Whitaker. It was very intense! The whole thing is told in a very limited time window before and after an attempted assassination told from a bunch of different points of view. It was awesome and you should check it out!

Hey ya’ll!
(Kine; good going with the dry throat there.. made me post again.. hehe… )
I’m gonna post some work stuff along with a couple of quick studies here..
Haven’t gotten around to painting anything too christmas-y, but then I don’t think I’m all that christmas-y… Don’t think I even have any decorations or nothin’.. haha..
Anyways.. I had this project at work where I made five (or actually six, but there are five that we’re gonna show) illustrations for a client. I’m gonna throw a couple of ‘em on here that I’m most happy with… If you want to check out the rest, they can be found on my company blog.
The crystals came out of stumbling across this awesome story about
the Naica mines in Chihuahua, Mexico that are filled with these awesome huge crystals, so I painted in a few of them to give the images a bit of a supernatural feel (which was kind of the idea about ‘em ;) )
Technical mumbo jumbo follows: They were painted in 140x100cm (like 11000x7000px 200DPI) in PS, and the layered WIP files weighed in around 1.2gb pr image, so they were pretty taxing for the system to work on… Big, dual layered, complex brushes are not a very good idea at those sizes ;)
I made a whole mess of thumbnails for this as well that the customer chose from. Below are some of ‘em…
So that was work… I try to do like warmup sketches before I start doing anything serious to loosen up the hand and all that artsy fartsy stuff, and I figured I could post a couple of those… Haven’t posted any quickies on here yet, but I do a lot of ‘em, so I figured maybe you guys wanted a look :) So here are a couple of those as well.. Just wanted to get like… other pallettes than the ones I get hung up on into my head, and went for a fall colored sketch, and a winter one.
Hope ya digs!
Movie recommendation:
I rewatched Blade Runner the other day… Most of you have probably seen that one several times, but see it again! It’s beautifully designed, and generally a hella good movie! Big up to
Lawrence G. Paull for the production design and the art department must’ve had a blast! And not to forget, Drew Struzan, the awesome poster artist!
I’m out like Lars Monsen (‘cuz… he’s outside alot… and… yeah.. you get my drift)

Hey ya’ll! Sorry I’m such an infrequent poster :P I try though… I’mma attempt to post once a week at least…
I started out doing some concept art redesign stuff as a side project… I loved Syndicate by Bullfrog back in the day, so I figured I’d revamp their stuff for fun. I got sidetracked pretty quickly though… me and a couple of guys have entered the Steampunk Myths and Legends competition over at cgtalk, and I’ll be focusing on that on my spare time now :) We’ll hopefully end up with a few seconds of animation at the end of it (think they want a 30 sec clip and 90 second “behind the scenes” footage)… I’m doing concepts for it (duh) and sort of an AD as well.. think it’ll be a cool project! I’ll post and point ya’ll in the right direction when we get this thing rollin’!
Did some quick copic sketches of agents for the Syndicate thing..

To follow up the KidRobot-ish Penance from the last post; here’s a dunny based on a Big Daddy from Bioshock… a Big Dunny I guess..hehe… Maybe I should send these to KidRobot and see if they wanna make some custom toys :D

Check out Stepbrothers with Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly! Hilarious shit! (I’m gonna recommend something “serious” soon as well… Promise! haha… )

Hey ya’ll! Mini update here… had a thunderdome (like an art competition… we only try to make it sound cool ;) ) Topic was “super deformed Marvel character”… I chose a character designed for Marvel by Marko Djurdjevic called Penance and kinda went down the KidRobot/Munny/Dunny road with this one :) Had a blast with it! One hour from start to finish.
Movie recommendation for the night (not gonna write a whole lot… going to bed); Benders Game. Hilarious movie, the third in the Futurama movie series. Even more hilarious for the ones of us that used to play AD&D :)

Hope ya dig!

‘sup ya’ll! One of my collegues kicked my ass about not updating my blog, so here I go.
I’ll start off with an illustration I did… it’s called as you might’ve guessed; Hidden In Plain Sight
Had this thought about other beings existing in like a “world beneath the world” or whatnot, so Regular Joe can’t see ‘em. However derelicts, bums, drug heads and shit can… ‘cuz their view of the world is kinda torn compared to ours.
Been thinking about Oslo too, which is filled with dope fiends and like cthulhu-ish mythology… Lovecrafts mythology is filled with monsters and shit that we feeble humans don’t get, and would go mad if we knew about. So, the bums and doped out people, might see ‘em, and interact, right… seeing as how they’re not “sane” in the common sense of the word.
The monster itself isn’t anything particular from the cthulhu mythos, but I have this thing about tentacles and cthulhu shit…hehe… but it’s definately inspired by it… I’m reading “The Call of Cthulhu” by Lovecraft now… guess this piece is like a… collection of thoughts around Oslo and what might be behind the curtains of our world.
Ze picture:
In other news I been working on a robot design with a 3d modeller lately… I’ll show ya’ll when it takes more form :) We’ve dropped a couple of ideas already, but I think we’re hittin’ a track where we’re more happy about it. Went from a car to a chopper so far, some thumbnails and a little head modelling been done, and a car. ‘Nuff talk about shit I’m not gonna show though… haha… I’ll show and tell when we get there.
I checked out Big Fish the other day again, to follow up on the movie-recommendation from last post… It’s a beautiful piece of film! I’m not gonna get into what goes on in it and all that, just see it ya’ll! Ok… if you wanna read about it, click here..
Just to make this a cross post between our blogs, me and Kine are planning on making some stencils… probably gonna be doing some chimps :P

Started out sorta like a weird dragon, went on to look like a wasp… a Dwasp I suppose… I was just playin’ around with a freaky lookin’ brush and got some shapes, and rendered on ‘em :D Was good fun!

I attended Gamecamp (how geeky is that, huh? :D ) in Oslo the 26th of september. There was a really really good keynote speech by Scott Bilas from Loose Cannon studios, click the name for his website… he posted the slides from his talks on there, if you’re interested in the gaming industry :)
Got to meet some cool people who are into gamedevelopment as well (duh), but not on the art side… got to know a gamedesigner/future concept artist, another game designer, and programmers, which is cool , seeing as how I know mostly artists doing games… hehe… Me and a fellow concept artist, Andreas Håndlykken, had a pass-the-wacom-session there and did a collabo based on a sketch from one of the gamedesigners:

Oh… and I did a lecture at IGM (Institutt for Grafiske Medier) a few days ago on “Creative Photoshop”! I had a blast! It’s fun teaching for motivated students! Sorta technical as opposed to teaching about my process when I do concepts and paint, but it’s always fresh to get another angle to how and why I do stuff.
First non-art related thing I write here I suppose, but I checked out Tropic Thunder the other day along with a bunch of my friends and my girl.. and, guys… ya’ll need to go see it… and bring friends :D It’s hilarious! Two thumbs up from this corner!
